Unity Pharmacy Milestones

1992

Opening of the first NTUC Healthcare outlet in Clementi NTUC FairPrice by the late President Mr Ong Teng Cheong, then Secretary General of NTUC & Deputy Prime Minister.

Two NTUC Healthcare pharmacy outlets were opened at Ang Mo Kio and Marine Parade Central subsequently.

1993

NTUC Healthcare celebrated her first anniversary with the opening of its Toa Payoh branch by Mr Wong Kan Seng, Chairman, Board of Trustee and Minister for Home Affairs.

NTUC Healthcare increased its healthcare presence with the opening of 5 outlets at Bukit Merah Central, Tanjong Pagar Plaza, Hougang St 21, Raffles City Shopping Centre and Toa Payoh.

1994

Tiong Bahru Plaza outlet was opened.

1995

3 outlets were opened at Tanglin Mall, Tampines Mall and Jurong Point Shopping Centre.

1996

The 18th outlet at Eastpoint was officially opened by Mr Lim Boon Heng, then Secretary General of NTUC and Minister without Portfolio. It was our flagship shop bearing our new identity- Unity NTUC Healthcare.

Three more outlets were opened at Bedok Central, Hougang Mall and Lot 1 Shoppers’ Mall.

1997

Recognising the continuing need for convenient healthcare for customers, NTUC Healthcare was the first to launch tele-pharmacy, an MOH-approved initiative which enables customers to seek health advice and purchase medication even in the physical absence of pharmacists. Its official launch was held at Great World City in October and was witnessed by the then Deputy Secretary General of NTUC, Mr Lim Swee Say.

The Bukit Timah outlet was also opened within the year.

1998

Bukit Panjang Plaza and Thomson Plaza outlets were opened.

1999

Singapore Post Centre and Hougang Point outlets were opened.

2000

Rivervale Mall outlet was opened.

2001

Yishun outlet was opened.

2002

Bishan outlet was opened.

2003

Harbour Front Centre outlet was opened.

2004

Unity’s logo was updated to portray a modern and upbeat image with a new tagline “Your Friend in Healthcare” to symbolize Unity’s aim in forging good relationships and understanding with our customers. Within the same year, NTUC Healthcare opened two new outlets at Punggol Plaza and Jurong West as well.

2005

5 outlets were opened at strategic locations such as Rivervale Plaza, Serangoon Central, Dawson Place, Toa Payoh Central and Woodlands Civic Centre.

2006

Embracing an alternate outlook in the health and wellness sector, NTUC Healthcare launched a new concept of lifestyle living with the opening of its first store at Great World City that was remodeled under this new concept. The Living Pharmacy stores boast a wider variety of products plus a variety of organic products to cater to the growing public awareness of organic consumption for a healthier lifestyle. The Living Pharmacy outlet at Great World City also housed an organic café using ingredients sold within the store.

NTUC Healthcare was awarded the SuperBrands award that recognizes the brand as one of the best and most-valued names in Singapore.

2007

Great World City and Ang Mo Kio outlets were awarded the Pro-Family Business Mark for its family-friendly service and facilities. Two more outlets were opened at White Sands Shopping Centre and Tampines Central Community Centre.

2008

West Coast Plaza outlet was opened.

2009

Five outlets were opened at Tampines One, Yew Tee Point, Plaza Singapura, Suntec City and Jurong East.

2010

Unity opened its doors at nex Mall.

2011

NTUC Healthcare unveiled its revitalized brand identity with a new name, NTUC Unity Healthcare Co-operative Ltd. As one of the wellness brands under the NTUC Healthcare Group, Unity opened its 47th store at The Clementi Mall showcasing the revitalized look with an emphasis on “Care for Life”. The opening was officiated by the Secretary General of NTUC, Mr Lim Swee Say.

Unity opened 2 new outlets at West Mall and Change Alley LinkBridge.

2012

Unity launched its range of daily essential vitamins and supplements under its own “Unity” brand name. These Unity housebrand products are priced at least 20% cheaper than national brands, making it more affordable so that everyone can benefit from preserving their health and preventing future illnesses.

In the same year, 4 outlets were opened at JCube, Taman Jurong, Tampines Mart and 100 AM (former Amara Shopping Centre).

2013

The 50th store at 100 AM was officially opened by Mr Lim Boon Heng (Chairman, NTUC Enterprise), Mr Sam Tan (MP for Radin Mas SMC), Ms Tan Hwee Bin (Chairman, NTUC Unity Healthcare) and Mr Chua Song Khim (Group CEO, NTUC Unity Healthcare). The official opening marked Unity Healthcare’s commitment to extend our reach to serve the needs of working families and our community.

Unity extended our reach with the opening of 8 new outlets at Yishun St.22, JEM, Kallang Bahru, Kangkar Mall, Ang Mo Kio Ave 6, Toa Payoh MRT Station, Westgate and Vista Point.

2014

NTUC Unity launched its second phase of Unity brand products – supplements for juniors. At the launch, Guest-of-Honour, Mr Heng Chee How (Deputy Secretary General, NTUC) announced the donation of $50,000 from sales of Unity junior supplements to the MILK (Mainly I Love Kids) Fund over a period of one year, and presented more than $30,000 worth of junior supplements to disadvantaged children from 50 families. The Unity house brand initiative was introduced to encourage working families to care for their health, allowing them to provide affordable health need for their young and old.
